Theatre of Youth (TOY) is Western New York’s only professional theatre dedicated to young audiences. We provide immersive experiences that spark creativity, build confidence, and foster a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Our internship program offers students and emerging professionals the chance to develop leadership skills, gain real-world experience, and contribute to meaningful artistic work in a vibrant theatre setting.
At this time, unfortunately, internship positions are unpaid.

Available Internship Positions
Below is a general breakdown of projects available for our interns per term. However, every semester and season is different. Upon being selected, you would have a meeting with a TOY rep to discuss specific goals, interests, scheduling and tasks surrounding your experience. Usually, both the Arts & Business Admin and Social Media positions intertwine.
Fall Semester (September – December)
Requirements: Must have a laptop for remote work and, ideally, access to a vehicle for occasional tasks.
Position 1: Art & Business Administration
- Assist with school outreach and development (emails, phone calls, partnerships).
- Help organize pre- and post-show educational materials.
- Support fundraising efforts, workshops, and front-of-house operations.
- Misc. administrative tasks
Position 2: Social Media & Graphic Design
- Create content, graphics, and promotional materials for TOY productions.
- Develop and execute a social media calendar.
- Assist with video content, behind-the-scenes footage, and audience engagement.
- Support digital marketing campaigns for ticket sales and workshops.
- Misc. administrative tasks
Spring Semester (January – May)
Requirements: Must have a laptop for remote work and, ideally, access to a vehicle for occasional tasks.
Position 1: Art & Business Administration
- Assist with show promotion, audience engagement, and partnership outreach.
- Continue working on educational workbooks and promotional materials.
- Gain hands-on experience with front-of-house ushering and event coordination.
- Misc. administrative tasks
Position 2: Social Media & Graphic Design
- Capture and create engaging social media content for upcoming productions.
- Assist with digital marketing, audience growth, and community engagement.
- Support graphic design needs for flyers, posters, and merchandise.

Summer Semester (June – August)
Requirements: Must have a laptop for remote work and, ideally, access to a vehicle for occasional tasks.
Position 1: Arts Leadership & Education
- Assist with TOY’s summer workshops and camps.
- Administration and communication with workshop clients.
- Help promote and represent TOY at local community events.
- Support administrative and marketing efforts to prepare for the upcoming season.
