Curtain Up For Kids: A Fundraiser for TOY

Curtain Up For Kids! will be held on Saturday, September 14th, 2024 at 203 Allen Street, Buffalo, NY from 10am-2pm.

Recently awarded 2024’s Best Cultural Programming for Kids by the Buffalo Spree, Theatre of Youth is excited to announce Curtain Up For Kids! – A Fundraising Event at TOY. 

As WNY’s only professional theatre company dedicated to serving children and their families, TOY is looking forward to offering a fun family day for both adults and their children to walk the red carpet, have some fun with our photo booth, enjoy some breakfast treats, take some workshops and benefit from season sneak peeks amongst other giveaways and basket raffles!

Lobby will be open at 9:30am for guests to enjoy breakfast treats, and we will have special theatre tour at 1:40pm.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS

Acting 101- Family Edition!:
This unique and engaging workshop allows parents and children to explore the world of acting together! In this hands-on session, families will participate in fun theatre games and creative exercises designed to spark imagination and collaboration. Parents are encouraged to join their little ones as they tap into their creativity, build confidence, and learn the basics of acting in a supportive and playful environment. 

This workshop is perfect for families looking to bond and discover the joys of theatre together.

Two Sessions Available: 10am-11am Grades (K-2 + adults) & 10am-11am (Grades 3-7 + adults)

Musical Theatre:
Students will explore the fundamentals of singing, dancing, and acting, all while working on scenes and songs from popular musicals. Led by experienced instructors, the workshop focuses on building confidence, improving performance skills, and fostering creativity. This workshop is perfect for young performers of all experience levels who are passionate about musical theatre.

Two Sessions Available : 11:15am-12:15pm (Grades 3-7) & 12:30pm-1:30pm (Grades K-2)

Character Crafts:
Students will dive into the world of visual arts to explore emotions and the foundations of character building. This hands-on workshop provides a fun, imaginative environment where children can explore the basics of character development in a visual and tangible way, focusing on how emotions shape the stories we tell.
